Every year I have a Super Bowl party at Big K's Pub in my basement. This year, I'm in dire need of a winter trip. I'm thinking Vegas. For the Super Bowl. Vegas Baby! I'm thinking the sports book at Caesar's Palace. Watchin' the Superbowl on a TV as big as my house! Sound good? I think so. Book it!

This has *got* to be one of the ugliest NFL games I have ever watched! But it looks like a W for the Lions! Woohoo!

I played golf yesterday. In March! In Michigan! And I got sunburned! Too cool. I shot 91. Not too bad. I guess I shouldn't be upset because after all, it is the first round of the season. And I only played four times last year. Actually I could've broke 90 but I took an eight on number five and sixes on seven, eight, and nine. Geez, could've been in the low to mid 80's! Damn. It would've been nice to break 90 on the first time out. My goal for this year is to shoot consistently in the 80's and possibly a round or...

Being a Detroit Lions fan can be agonizing. For that reason, when you live in Michigan and you are a Detroit Lions fan, you have to have a backup. What's a backup? A backup is another team that you can root for that doesn't suck like the Lions. If you are a football fan and a fan of the Lions, it is essential that you have one. If you don't, your head gets awfully sore and bumpy from pounding it into the wall. Anyway, my backup is the Denver Broncos. I like the Broncos for several reasons... They are usually a good...

Not really. I wish I were a runner but I'm not. Not yet anyway. Years ago, (God I sound old when I use that phrase) I think it was in the 80's, I watched one of the first Ironman Triathlons on ABC's Wide World of Sports. I was fascinated by it. It was well before the race had the popularity it has today. I can remember the people literally crawling over the finish line. I was just awestruck (is that a word?) at the dedication and passion that those people had. It was just amazing. A little while after that...

What a weekend! Saturday I went to the Michigan game and Sunday to the lowly Lion's game. Had a great time, maybe too great! Thought I'd post some pictures from the Michigan tailgate. Click on the image to see it bigger. Gotta love the flags...   These people used to tailgate in the golf course but I guess it's getting to be a pain over there so they thought they'd give this place a try. They have a real nice setup!    This is our group here... Playin' the midwest's favorite! Euchre anyone? We left Saturday morning at 9:30 am and I got home around...

I went back to the gym today. Woo Hoo!! The first time in, oh, I don't know. A YEAR OR SO!!! For me, the hardest part of working out is going that very first time. I don't know why, it just is. Plus, I'm in such bad shape, that I was afraid to go. No, not because I look so bad that I'd be embarrassed. But because I was afraid I'd have a heart attack or something while I was there. I can see it now... I'm on the treadmill and, Boom! I'm gone. The treadmill is still going so it...

         vs.   Go Blue!

Detroit, Michigan - Last week Big K's Krunchers crushed the American Rhinos in a decisive 128.60 to 58.80 victory to clinch a spot in the playoffs in their inaugural season. The Kruncher's Drew Bennet scored an impressive 41.30 points and nearly beat the lowly Rhinos on his own. Deuce McAllister and Daunte Culpepper added 24.00 and 18.00 points respectively to finish off the Rhinos who finished in last place in the league. This weekend, the Krunchers (8-6-0) butt heads with the Gamblers (8-6-0) in the first round of the NWFL league playoffs. The Krunchers are looking toward Daunte Culpepper to have...

I got some new Michigan stuff for Big K's Pub on my birthday which, by the way, was this last Monday. You'd think I have enough Michigan stuff. But you'd be wrong. ;) Check it out! Awesome flag huh?! This is from my daughter Jamie. I've got the picture turned 90 degrees. It's actually hanging on a door next to the bar. And my in-laws got me this awesome rug. I have it layin' right in front of the TV. Let's see, what else. Kari gave me a very cool “weathered” sweat shirt. And my sister in-law Staci gave me a Michigan pull-over jacket similar...

What's going on here? The Lions have two posessions and two touchdowns. Somebody pinch me! No wait! Don't pinch me, there's still a whole game left!  ;) Update: It's official. I am dreaming. The Lions just got a safety! They're leading 19 to 7. What's up with the Vikings? Their fans are booing like crazy. Update 2: Yep, I was dreaming. Minnesota 22, Detroit 19. Sigh.

Yesterday was a great day all around. Not only did Michigan win, but my older sister Sharon and her husband Will rolled into town in their motor home for a quick visit! After the Michigan game we all gathered at our house and watched Wisconsin whip Ohio State and had some beer and pizza down at Big K's Pub. My other sister Deniece and her husband Chuck came by along with Gayla's parents, her sister Staci, and my niece Kristen and her two kids. Needless to say we had a house full but it was really great having everyone over. After the...

Man, what a game! Michigan comes from behind on an "NFL like" drive led by Chad Henne! This kid is going to be something! He was 33 of 49 for 328 yards! Pretty awesome for a 19 year old! In my post yesterday, I can't believe I forgot to mention Michael Hart! Another true freshman with a great future! Hart carried the ball 33 times for 160 yards and a touchdown. He is only 18 years old! Right now I'm feeling pretty good about the next few years of Michigan football. The final score was Michigan 27, Minnesota 24. Go Blue!!

Michigan plays Minnesota today for the Little Brown Jug. This is a pretty neat story and in my opinion signifies what college sports is and should be all about. Michigan has a 3:1 lead in keeping the jug but you never know what's going to happen, especially with Michigan (like Notre Dame this year!). Every season, they always seem to lose one game that they're supposed to win. I guess that's why they play the game! I think Michigan is playing better now and Chad Henne is settling in nicely as the QB. This kid is a true freshman but in...
