November 2006 Entries

I've been looking forward to the Thanksgiving 4 day weekend for about a month now. It was really a great mini vacation and I couldn't ask for better weather. It's been in the upper 50's and sunny since Wednesday and it's near 60 today! Definitely unusual weather for November in Michigan.

The bad thing is that I didn't do a damn thing except put my Christmas lights up on the house today. It was kind of a wasted weekend, but every now and then you need to sit back and do absolutely nothing. I did need some time to get my head straight about some things and my life in general, and hopefully this weekend accomplished that. Maybe I'll have more on that in future posts.

So back to work tomorrow. If you happen to be passing by, I hope you had a great weekend too that will continue throughout this holiday season.

I've tried. I have really, really tried to layout web pages without tables. I can't do it. I suck at it. And, it takes me longer to get the layout right than it does to create the page content and the code behind. So I give up. I will however do the following...

  • I will use the very minimum number of tables as I can to do the layout - usually all I need is one
  • I will continue to try and do “tableless“ layout but I can't spend hours and hours on it
  • I will learn as much as I can about CSS and using it for layout

That said, anyone know any really good CSS layout tutorials? ;)

1. I pay for cable service.
2. I pay extra for the digital cable channels.
3. I pay extra for high definition service.
4. I pay extra for the "premium" high definition channels.
5. The NFL network, which is a part of the digital cable channel package and the "premium" high definition channel package, shows a third game on Thanksgiving, and my cable company chooses not to show the game?

Nice.

Update:  Apparently very few cable networks are carrying the 8 games on the NFL Network due to the high cost the NFL Network is charging for the games. I still have mixed feelings about this, after all, we still pay for our cable service, the cable companies should absorb this cost to satisfy their paying customers. That said, my cable company replied to an email I sent them and provided an email address and phone number to contact the NFL Network to complain. If you happen to be stopping by here, click on the link below and ask the NFL Network what good it does to broadcast games that no one will be watching.
